Overview:

Dunedin case studies

Dunedin Enterprise Investment Trust PLC specialises in the provision of private equity finance. The trust invests both in Dunedin funds, managed by Dunedin Capital Partners Limited, and in funds managed by third party managers.

The Dunedin funds provide equity finance for management buy-outs, management buy-ins and growing businesses in the UK. The strategy is to invest in £10-75 million management buy-outs and buy-ins where superior returns can be achieved. The companies in which the Dunedin funds invest are principally management buy-outs of profitable, cash generative companies with strong growth prospects and a strong market position.

The trust launched a fund investment programme in 2008 to increase its exposure to the European buy-out market. The primary focus of the programme is on funds operating in local country markets across Europe whose investment strategy targets small to medium sized buy-outs. Such funds are likely to be between €150m and €750m in overall fund size.

Objective:

The company’s primary objective is to achieve substantial long-term growth in its assets and capital gains from its investments.
